The cats of this breed originated from the Isle of Man about 300 years ago. There exist many legends of their origin. Some claim that these cats descended from Siam and Malaya, where cats have kinked tails. Others say that they are refuges from the Spanish Armada, or other ships.

At the age of 5 years some serious hereditary diseases may develop. Many owners do not want to spend time and money on their pets.
