The breeder should necessarily use tailed animals in the breeding program to avoid health problems and insure good kittens. There can be kittens with various tails and without tails in the litter. The tailless gene is lethal when breeding tailless cats beyond or into the third generation.

The most often used word in the breed's standard is “round.” These cats have a round body, head, rump, eyes and paws. The hind legs are visibly longer than the front legs, so the rump of these cats is higher than the head. Manx pictures an be obtained from any cattery, but not all catteries can be trusted.
